a quick guide to our class level system at Rio!

important reminder: there is no expectation that students will progress to a new level seasonally or annually. these levels are only meant to provide context for classes that will fit your goals and abilities! it is not meant to indicate value or progression in your dance journey.
never ever (no prior experience, introductory pace)
typically dancers in this level have never taken a dance class in this style before.

beginner (working on understanding of fundamentals, guided pace)
typically dancers in this level have < 2 years of recent dance experience OR danced recreationally as children.

intermediate (working on mastery of fundamentals, accelerated pace)
typically dancers in this level have < 3 years of recent dance experience OR participated in a dance program as adolescents.

proficient (working on developing artistry, dynamic pace)
typically dancers in this level have 4+ years of recent dance experience OR danced at a collegiate / competitive level in the past.

advanced (self-motivated, full pace)
note: classes that are labeled as a combo of levels (ex: 1/2 or 3/4) will support dancers in both levels indicated.
