the December Project is an opportunity for the community at Rio get to experience the creative process for themselves! this is a low stakes, welcoming chance to learn how to develop choreography, work collaboratively with dancers, and see a project through to performance. it is also an opportunity for fellow students to learn from new people, and experience each other's unique styles.

chose to participate as a CHOREOGRAPHER, PERFORMER, or BOTH - all culminating in an in-studio showcase on sunday, december 20th at 5:30pm. Learn more about the timeline and how to be a part of the December Project below….

submit your idea between october 7 and october 24 for your piece to be considered!

we are looking for participants who are eager to be a part of the experiment and share their art with our community. you do not need to have ANY prior choreography experience - in fact, this is the perfect opportunity to start your artistic journey.

selected choreographers will receive a $75 stipend for their time and effort!

selections + rehearsals times announced: november 1

dancers will select their pieces based on style, level and availability [ex: jazz 1/2 and rehearsals are tuesday nights]. booking will open on november 3 with semester style enrollment. cost to participate is $100* per performance piece and includes 6 hours of rehearsal scheduled between 12/1 - 12/19 and the performance itself on 12/20.

*rehearsals are included in the fall unlimited membership. class credits will also apply!
